b & r

i promise this is the last time i blog about cats.

i made little batman and robin costumes for eddie and murphy on halloween, they wouldn't sit still long enough to get any decent pictures but you can imagine:

and that is the last you have to hear about them.

i have been hard at work in my studio for the past week. i am currently working on some text/found object installations, some more cryptic symbols made of painted wood and some more altered portraits with coloured pencils. i will post what i am up to soon.

eureka

i think i have finally figured out how to combine my erratic & eclectic process of art making into one cohesive body of work without limiting myself. after years of staring at my oil paintings, letraset poems, wood sculptures, pencil crayon drawings and photographs a little lightbulb went off. perhaps now i will finally feel comfortable enough to put everything out there.

i am excited to hole up in my studio this winter.

doubles

this shoot was supposed to be for vice magazine
things fell through: someone got fired, someone moved to montreal etc.

i have more pictures, just have to get the negatives scanned. sorry about the poor scan quality, i will get some hi-res ones once i get the next batch going.

technical difficulties

i am still scanner-less, and i don't own a digital camera.
plus i really hate the way the webcam makes my work look.
more updates soon, i have a lot of new drawings to post.

i didn't take many pictures this summer, though it was an incredible one.
i want to take a new approach to photography. a sudden barrage of amateur film photographers are drubbing the style to death. some interesting, most tedious and lackluster with shallow results that are void of spirit/soul. i don't want to be grouped in. i am in search of new directions.

hold tight. be patient.

conquest

collaboration with dan rocca, working under the name bone black. at this point, after eight months we have about two hundred of what we like to call 'madlibs'.
they are small pieces of paper we trade with single words on each line, leaving the other to fill the spaces in between, creating short stories, poems and chants usually dealing with mortality, necromancy, persecution and nomadism.

initially, we were going to make a zine, but we are contemplating filling a wall with them for an installation.
